Visa & residence permit

Long-stay visas and residence permits

A long-stay visa is compulsory for international students not belonging to the European Union. More information on www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/venir/visas/index.html
We strongly recommend that you send off your visa request to the French Embassy in the country where you are resident before you even receive confirmation of your admission to Polytech'Lille. The embassy will inform you of the necessary steps involved (test of level of French, proof of financial support...)

A long-stay visa is required in order to obtain the residence permit issued by the "Préfecture du Nord" when you register with Polytech'Lille.

Study in France for more than 3 months, all students must obtain a residence permit within 2 months following their arrival, specifying their student status. The maximum validity for the residence permit is one year and it can be renewed.

The University has set up a "foreign student reception unit" which ensures communication with the administration department and will give you the residence permit application form.
(Location: USTL - Building A3 - room 020 ground floor).
