Validation of grades

The studies at Polytech'Lille are divided into modules corresponding to ECTS credits (60 credits are required to validate one year of study).

Degree-seeking students

Degree-seeking students validating a semester obtain 30 ECTS credits overall, and students validating a year obtain 60 credits.
At the end of each semester, student' results are examined by the Polytech'Lille jury. The evaluation is an overall one. A student has passed his/her semester if his/her average is equal to or higher than 12/20. Whatever his results in an odd-numbered semester, a student is allowed to follow the even-numbered semester for the same year.

At the end of each even-numbered semester, the jury examines the situation of student-engineers who have not obtained an average of 12/20 in one of the semesters that year.
A student has passed both semesters if his annual average (half the sum of the averages for the odd and even-numbered semesters) is equal to or higher than 12/20.

A student who spends part of his course in another higher education institution is bound by a learning agreement between Polytech'Lille and the host establishment. Through this contract, the student undertakes to follow the programme of study and consider it as an integral part of his course. The student has to obtain the credits stipulated in the learning agreement to obtain total academic recognition for the study period spent abroad.

Foreign students on exchange programmes (non-degree-seeking students)

International students on exchange programmes follow a range of modules and obtain the corresponding credits in the validated modules: they are allocated credits for each of the modules that they follow.

They are assessed via the same exams as the local engineering students. If they obtain a mark equal to or higher than 10/20 in a module, they are awarded the credits for that module.
