Organization of engineering curriculum

The school year is organized by semesters and the course at Polytech'Lille lasts for 3 years (from semester 5 to semester 10).

Each engineering student is admitted into one of the departments of Polytech'Lille. It is not possible to follow courses in two departments at the same time as the entire course forms a coherent whole leading to a set of learning outcomes and knowledges in each specialization.

In semester 5 (S5), engineering students follow a general "common core" course, part of which is adapted to their recruitment background.
They also start to attend courses linked to the department’s specialization.

The specialization is gradually increased in semesters S6, S7 and S8.

In semesters S9 and S10, students have an opportunity to finalise their career decisions through placements, projects and modular teaching, i.e. cross-disciplinary modules to broaden their knowledge and optional modules linked to the specialization.

Depending on their academic results, students are also encouraged to complete their course with a semester (S9) or year of study (S9 and S10) in a partner university abroad or to carry out their final-year project in a research laboratory abroad.
