Languages

French students must study two languages : English and German or Spanish.

Students who apply for a study period or a project at a partner university whose language is not taught at Polytech'Lille have the option of studying a third language (Italian, Portuguese, Chinese...) at an evening class a year before departure.

French is taught as a foreign language for international students who do not have to learn German or Spanish as a second foreign language.

The aim of the language courses is to to prepare students for working in an international environment.

English is subject to an external assessment of the level required by the "Commission des Titres d'Ingénieurs" (level B2+ defined in the common European reference framework for languages). Polytech'Lille has opted for the TOEIC with a required level of 750 points.

German is not subject to an external assessment, but German students may take the Goethe Institut "Zertifikat Deutsch" (ZD, level B1, common European reference framework for languages) or the "Zertifikat Deutsch für den Beruf" (ZDfB, level B2).
Two "ZD" sessions a year are organised in the School.

Spanish is not subject to an external assessment, but Spanish students may take the Certificado Inicial and Diploma Básico, which are the first two parts of the DELE certification proposed by the Institut Cervantes.
