Exchange students

Every year, Polytech'Lille welcomes international students under the European ERASMUS exchange programme or as part of bilateral cooperation agreements.

If you wish to study at Polytech'Lille under the exchange programme, you should first check with the international relations department at your university to see whether a partnership has been established with Polytech'Lille. If it has, you may prepare your application with the agreement of your educational advisor and the Erasmus coordinator at your university.

You application must contain the application form a CV, a letter of motivation (résumé), copies of your transcript of records and of the signed "Learning Agreement". If you would like accommodation in a university hall of residence, fill in the "accommodation request" form and attach it to your application.

Registrations for the exchange programme must be sent in by 15 June for the fall semester (commencing mid-September) and by 15 November for the spring semester (commencing early February).

All lectures are given in French. You therefore need to have a sufficient level of French before you arrive in France.

All exchange programme students are offered French lessons free of charge (25hours each semester).

Exchange students are expected to take their courses in a single department and in a single year of study to avoid timetable conflicts.

If you would like to take part in a laboratory project, you should first send your CV, application form and covering letter setting out the areas that are of interest to you, along with a copy of your transcript of records to the address below. The international relations department will pass your request on to the department or laboratory concerned and will contact you again.

Once your application is accepted by the teaching department or host laboratory, a letter of acceptance will be sent to your home address. At the end of your stay, a "transcript of records" will be sent to your university of origin so that you can have your results validated.

If your institution is not a partner of Polytech'Lille and the University of Science and Technology of Lille and you wish to join our engineering school as an Erasmus student, you should first make contact with the international relations department at Polytech'Lille and the person responsible for the Socrates/Erasmus project in your faculty. They will decide whether an Erasmus agreement is possible.

Registration procedure for exchange students (non degree-seeking students)

As soon as you arrive, you may collect your room keys from the office of the university hall of residence assigned to you in your letter of acceptance.
You should then go to Polytech'Lille's international relations department in room B112 and they will help you with the necessary administrative procedures concerning your enrolment.

Make sure you have the following documents with you:
  • photocopy of your passport or identity card,
  • photocopy of your student card from your university of origin,
  • Erasmus certificate from your sending university
  • several passport photos
  • your European Health Insurance card

You will then be issued with your Lille University of Science and Technology (USTL) student card showing that you are enrolled at Polytech'Lille.
You will not need to pay enrolment fees.

If you are not a European Union citizen, you should apply for a long-stay visa from the French Embassy in your country and, once you arrive, then apply for a residence permit from USTL's "foreign student reception unit".
Payment of contributions to French Social Security is obligatory. (189 € in 2007–2008).
