An outstanding geographical location

Polytech'Lille is situated on a vast university campus covering 110 hectares in Villeneuve d'Ascq, close to Lille (15 minutes from the "Lille Europe" and "Lille Flandres" stations by underground ).

Villeneuve d'Ascq

Villeneuve d'Ascq is less than 350 km from 6 European capital cities.

Born out of a merger of three communities, Villeneuve d'Ascq has retained its cultural and archaeological heritage and its environment (green spaces, lakes and forests). It is also a symbol of the future with its universities, research laboratories, engineering colleges and various businesses. Villeneuve d'Ascq has a variety of cultural facilities (modern art museum, science forum, theatre….) and sporting facilities (1 25,000-seater stadium, a range of multi-sport facilities, 50 tennis courts, 2 watersports centres, 3 golf courses, 1 bowling alley….). It also has a shopping centre and an excellent shopping mall very close to the university campus.

Lille

Lille, the regional capital of Nord-Pas de Calais, is set at a crossroads in the heart of north-western Europe. It is served :

Locally by the VAL automatic underground system. With 220,000 inhabitants, Lille is part of an urban community with a population of over a million, making it the fourth largest French city after Paris, Lyon and Marseille.

Lille has seen a marked development in its banking, administrative and commercial services. It has a large International Business Centre, "Euralille", which covers over 70 hectares.

With its youthful population, (27% of its inhabitants are under 20 years old), it is both a large university town and the leading employment centre in the Nord-Pas de Calais.

With its wealth of human resources and facilities, Nord-Pas de Calais is one of Europe's leading centres for trade, innovation and new technology, and the third industrial and tertiary centre in France.

Lille is also an artistic and historic city in touch with two cultures, French and Flemish, and is outstanding for the originality, uniqueness and wealth of its architectural and artistic heritage. With its picturesque districts, shopping streets and friendly atmosphere all year round, Lille is a pleasant place in which to live. In 2004, its vitality and creativity led to its being designated as a "European Cultural Capital", and a new bi-annual event, "Lille 3000", was created, opening the door to modernity and world cultures in which innovation and technology are combined with art. In 2006, "Lille 3000" took us on a visit to the many facets of India.

Lille and the Nord-Pas de Calais Region in general, enjoy an outstanding geographical location. The region has always been a natural crossroads in Europe and now, with the TGV service and the Channel Tunnel, it is in close contact with a hundred million Europeans. Lille-Lesquin airport has capacity for 1.5 million passengers. Lille is also a conference city and, every year, hosts a large number of business events, internationally famous specialist shows and major sporting events.

The region has a mild and temperate climate. You can spend your weekends exploring the hills of Flanders and Artois, or admiring the undulating countryside of the Avesnois or Boulonnais. The superb cliffs of Cap Blanc Nez and the beaches of the Opal Coast will also reveal other facets of the region.
